The northern margin of the Olympic Speed Skating Oval facility is defined by the City of Richmond’s Middle Arm Dyke Trail. The trail, accordingly named due to its proximity to the Middle Arm of the Fraser River estuary, provides an important interface between the City’s urban core and natural areas of the estuary.
Envirowest, as part of an interdisciplinary team, participated in the design of amenities to the trail to enhance the experience of trail users. We collaborated with the landscape architect in the design of plantings within the shoreline environment, and provided input regarding the environmental design of viewing platforms and shoreline revetment. We provided technical support to the landscape architect in the administration of the contract for works. Envirowest facilitated the environmental permitting for the project; permitting was conducted under the auspices of the Fraser River Estuary Management Program.
